When Dr. Heusser came to Spring Valley, NY for our 2018 conference, we said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working in\nanthroposophical activities, we naturally meet with resistance from mainstream\nculture. If calls for scientific evidence and validation can sometimes feel\nlike being struck on the cheek, in order to turn the other cheek, it is\nimportant for all<\/em> of us\u2014not only scientists\u2014to know that there is\nactually <\/em>a scientific foundation that can support our monistic science of\nspirit\/matter and to know what <\/em>that foundation is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are now so glad that many more people\u2014both in mainstream institutions\nand in our anthroposophical communities\u2014will be able to meet with Peter as he\ndelivers this important message bridging natural science and spiritual science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plans are now being finalized for Peter\u2019s cross-country tour this\nSpring, thanks to the initiative and generosity of Ted Roszell of Ann Arbor. Gopi\nVijaya took the lead of an initiative group\u2014Walter Alexander, Ricardo Bartelme,\nFrank Dauenhauer, Judith Erb, Craig Holdrege, Gary Lamb, Barry Lia, Andrew\nLinnell, Ray Mana\u00e7es\u2014formed under the auspice of the Natural Science Section with\nthe cooperation of The Nature Institute and the Hawthorne Valley Center for\nSocial Renewal, and the Center for Anthroposophical Endeavors. May 2<\/strong>,8:30 am – 12:00 pm: panel, comprised of Gopi Krishna,\nPeter Heusser, and 2 college-age alumni of the school reviews previous evening\nand applies it to a discussion of how human beings might design and interact\nwith machines and technology so as to utilize them for the progress of human\ndevelopment, while avoiding less desirable impacts on the human being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May 2<\/strong>,2:00 – 5:00 pm: panel comprised of Judith Erb, a high\nschool teacher, a lower-school teacher, an early childhood teacher, and\npossibly experts on climate science and sustainable economics will discuss the\ncurrent objective reality of our earth and its inhabitants. This will include\ntools to respond in age-appropriate ways to what comes from the world around us\nas climate reality unfolds. We will look at historical context and\narchetypal tales.  Discussion will elucidate how our thoughts about this as\nparents, teachers, students and citizens of the planet will shape the attitude\nof soul with which we and our children meet the coming challenges and\nopportunities with courage, flexibility and hope rather than despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are pleased to receive permission from Peter and\nSteinerBooks\/Anthroposophic Press to publish his Foreword to Dr. Armin\nHusemann\u2019s new book, Form, Life & Consciousness: An Introduction to\nAnthroposophic Medicine and Study of the Human Being<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his own recent\nbook, Anthroposophy and Science<\/em>, Peter presents the emergent properties\nof body, life, soul, and spirit as lawful organizing principles\u2014each level\nequally and irreducibly real. In the light of modern evidence from the fields\nof physics, chemistry, biology, and neuroscience, he develops a\nnon-reductionistic epistemology of \u201cempirical ontological idealism,\u201d validating\na monistic science of spirit\/matter that can address the reservations often\nheld by mainstream society. This Foreword encapsulates these themes, serving as\nan introduction to Peter\u2019s work in building a bridge from natural science to\nspiritual science<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Heusser is currently Senior professor in Medical Anthropology and formerly Head of the Institute for Integrative Medicine at the University of Witten\/Herdecke, Germany.  He had also been on the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern as Head Lecturer for Anthroposophical Medicine in the Institute for Complementary and Integrative Medicine.  He has served as expert of the Swiss Federal Office for Social Security and Health for the Evaluation of Complementary Medicine.  He lectures worldwide on epistemology and philosophy of science, particularly regarding the need for activating a different caliber of thinking for handling an integrative, holistic science and medicine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
